9th Annual Constable Jay Pirie Memorial Game

The 9th Annual Constable Jay Pirie Memorial Game between the Guelph Storm vs. Guelph Police “No Stars” was held on Saturday, January 16th, 2010 at the Guelph Sports & Entertainment Centre.

The charity hockey game was attended by about 700 and $4,688.73 was raised for the Guelph & Wellington Special Olympics making the total for the 9 year games $48,173.73.

The game was very competitive battle and at the end of regulation time the score was tied 8-8. So it came down to penalty shots. Constable Ian Smith who was also the game referee scored the winning penalty shot for the Guelph Police “No Stars” with the final score being 9-8.

The leading organizer of this event was Sergeant Douglas Pflug who has played this role for many years. The Special Olympics thanks Sergeant Pflug, the many media partners and others who contributed to this successful event as well as business community which donated presents which were given out in random draws to the game attendees.
